I worked with ILM over a four year period and contributed to 12+ movies with laser hi where are you-cut physical models.

How Might Digital Design and Laser Fabrication bring F/X to the next level?

ILM was one of our first customers when they bought a Beta unit of a new desktop laser cutter from Scale Models Unlimited and our startup, Envision Design Centers. The physical models were expertly assembled,  staged and shot by the incredible talent in the model and creature shops in San Rafael, California.

Working with the artists in the ILM model and creature shops

The most collaborative and creative artists in the world!

The Rocketeer

The Rocketeer involved designing a 1/8 scale replica of the Hindenburg. we loaded the model full of explosives in an amazing pyrotechnic sequence, shot at Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato, CA. The blimp structure was designed in CAD and took over a month to manufacture, with lasers running around the clock.
